We had a wonderful time at Smuggler Cottage in Looe. We felt very welcome and loved the attention to detail, such as the milk and biscuits and the flowers on the kitchen table. We had a great stay at the lovely Smuggler Cottage. The host was very helpful and communicated well during the booking process. Although it was in the heart of the town it was surprisingly quiet. We would book again, thank you for the chocolate hobnobs!! ... May 2023 (Ms ZH) via airbnb

We had a great stay and met up with the family, three bedrooms were great for adults little difficult to find the first time, and annoyed some of the tourists parking in the street while we unloaded, the best car park is across the river -a ten minute walk, costs about £6 /24 hrs , for loading on departure ignore the signs drive through the town and park on the side while loading. ... The perfect place to stay in the historic centre. Overlooks a small square and was amazingly quiet.... Apr 2023 (Mr NC) via airbnb

Great little stay at Smuggler Cottage. Right in the centre of town, with all the local cafes, restaurant’s and shops on the doorstep. Recommend the Ocean & Earth Thai next door (go mild!) and the Old Sardine factory on the other side of the river. Also had a really fun night at the Jolly Sailor pub, with Shanty singers on a Thursday night. Mike the host was lovely to deal with and all the information was spot on. Really enjoyed our stay. ... Mike was friendly and communicated well from the time of booking. Smuggler Cottage is quirky, comfy and perfectly located. Ideally situated in East Looe so close to all amenities Stairs are steep in the cottage so not ideal for the elderly Best to park over the bridge in the Millpond car park, really good value Loved our stay would highly recommend Mike extremely helpful ... Jan 2023 (Ms GW) via airbnb

Smuggler Cottage was lovely, I had two small children and potentially the cottage would suit a slightly older family because of the stairs but we managed. I loved the quirky nature of the cottage with the beautiful original features. It had all the features that you would need (and a full oven, which is always a bonus). Mike was a great host, contacting me beforehand to see if there was anything extra I would need and being close to Christmas, the cottage had been decorated which was a really lovely touch. Would definitely stay here again. (“Thank you so much, you cottage was lovely.”) ... Dec 2022 (Ms CF) via airbnb

We enjoyed a wonderful few days at Smuggler Cottage which is a typical Cornish cottage and full of character. When you walk through the door you are immediately transported back in time with the quaint living room and kitchen which you step down into. When climbing the wonderful staircase it’s easy to imagine what life was like in Cornwall many years ago. The Cottage is ideally situated and is surrounded by lovely Pubs and Restaurant’s. We were there during the Autumn Internationals (Rugby) which was only being screened on Amazon Prime, we were pointed in the direction of the Angling Club where we received a very warm welcome from the staff and locals. Oh and a bit of well placed banter during the matches because we are Welsh. All in all, a great place to stay. ... Nov 2022 (Mr DE) via airbnb

We had a great stay thanks the location was perfect 30 second walk to the beach and the fact that the property wasn't on a hill really helped with my mother in law who is asthmatic. ... Sept 2021 (Mrs JA)

We really enjoyed our visit to Looe, especially staying in such an historic cottage, right in the heart of town. Smuggler Cottage is set amongst very narrow streets, but it’s on the old market square we didn’t feel hemmed in. And only a very short walk to the bustling riverside or to the beach. It was great. The owner, Mike, was very helpful anytime we needed to contact him. ... Sept 2021 (Ms PH) Tripadvisor, but review sent direct

Quirky cottage in a fantastic location; a stone’s throw from beach, shops and restaurants. Something for all ages. Bedrooms full of character and loved second floor shower and the bathroom . Just got home from a lovely holiday! The kids didn’t want to leave, nor did I. The cottage is beautiful and cosy, original features with smart modern amenities including WiFi (one of the only places in looe). Perfect location; beach, harbour, restaurants, bars and shops all practically on the doorstep. Mike the owner is lovely and very helpful. The cottage was very clean with lots of little extras. Thank you so much, we will be back. ... July 2021 (Mrs LB)

I Would like to say what a great cottage this is in a fantastic location right in the centre of looe. The cottage is very well looked after. Clean and tidy and has a homely feel. Mike is very friendly and kept in contact all the way through the booking procedure and helped with directions and anything else we needed to know.
Would highly recommend to book here and will definitely be returning myself.
... June 2021 (Mrs FH)

What a super escape! Close enough to the principle road that you can drop your luggage off easily, and yet situated on one of the car-free narrow lanes that you can time travel back through the centuries as you walk through the passages to the quay to watch the fishermen unload their catch.
The fact that the cottage has a blocked off entrance to the smugglers' tunnel just adds to the mystique. There are nods to modern life of course with wi-fi (slow though through the whole of Looe) and good restaurants - with one so close that I was actually still using the cottage wi-fi while I sat at a corner table in there.
Then there's the not very fifteenth century beds, all with memory foam toppers and all really comfortable. Mike, our host, had already been in contact and offered useful advice before we arrived. Then he was always on hand with a quick reply to any query, like 'which bin do we use?'. It's the grey one marked 'Smugglers Cott', which is actually the name of the restaurant nearby but nobody used it but us - they all knew.
It's that sort of place. Brilliant!
... June 2021 (via airbnb Mr & Mrs JM)

What a gem right in the heart of Looe. loads of space inside a fantastic character cottage. location is just perfect, minutes from anywhere you want to be in east looe , property is just across the path from an amazing Thai restaurant and the equally amazing smugglers cott restaurant, everything is within a few minutes walk. Just a word of warning for anyone with very dodgy knees, the stairs are steep (as you would expect in a very old cottage) and the bathroom is on the top floor, not difficult to climb but just to be aware for those who have difficulty getting up and down stairs. but all in all great value for money.” ... June 2021 (via airbnb Mr SW)

and .. this is the best and nicest review we've ever had ... from this May 2021 ... We just stayed in your cottage for 5 days. (The family with the thousand children??). I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the best little birthday get away I have ever had! The cottage was absolutely lovely and we enjoyed every inch of it! I can not remember the last time I had 4 consecutive "good" nights of sleep! The beds are all so comfy! Dad and boys went crabbing while the twins napped and I actually READ A BOOK!!!
We almost feel like the house is cheating on us for being rented out to other families to make memories!
This was truely an unforgettable stay with not one negative! (I even loved the ducking and diving from the seagulls! I LOVED hearing them chatter during the night! I am sure I was smiling in my sleep!)
We even did the murder mystery!(Please tell all your guests about it! It is FANTASTIC!!). It takes you all over East Looe and it is so much fun!We will definitely be coming again and again!!
All our smuggling love"
...May2021 (The vd M family)

We had a lovely time in your cottage It is in a very convenient position for the harbour and the beach The bedding was spotless and the beds comfortable. Bathroom very clean but lacking a mirror (Mike: where did that go? .. now replaced.) (and a long climb up the stairs). My one criticism is that he cooker was not very clean, (perhaps that’s my high standards) (Mike: I'll check that out right away.)
Would definitely stay again especially out of season
...May2021 (Ms DH)

This is a fantastic little cottage in the middle of the old narrow alleyways of East Looe. We were a family of five, two adults and three kids. It's a short walk from the house to the beach, harbour and shops, and we were able to let the kids have free reign while we enjoyed some gorwn up time in the many outdoor cafes and pubs. The house was clean, tidy and had everything we needed for the week. Becasue of it's age it is quite small with lots of stairs, so might be a struggle for older adults, but for the kids it was quite magical - like being inside a pirate ship they said! Mike was a great host - speedy communication and clear instructions about check-in, parking and suchlike. Amenities-wise the house has wifi, a decent TV and DVD player, loads of old books to read about Cornwall, stuff for the beach, two brilliant big sofas in the living room and a table that you can just about get 6 around in the cosy kitchen. Beds were really comfortable (one double, four singles spread across three bedrooms) and there are two showers and one bath and toilet. I would have no hesitation staying here again.”...Apr2021 (Mr JT via airbnb)

My family and myself had the pleasure of staying at Smuggler Cottage at the end of August. Having stayed in Looe many times over the years this trip was especially poignant for us. The location is superb, literally a couple of minutes from the beach and harbour. The cottage itself was excellent, such character and so cosy. It has everything you need for a family holiday. Books to have a read of (which we added to), games to play and beach/crab fishing equipment. It was just what we wanted to have a relaxing family break. My personal favourite was the bath! So big! We would recommend Smuggler Cottage to anyone looking for a holiday in Looe and will be our first choice of accommodation when we return for another holiday in Looe. Mike was very helpful and friendly to deal with.. ... Aug2020 (Mrs JS)

This is quirky place in a rather busy little Cornish fishing village. Well-located for the centre of the village and it's shops and restaurants. About 10 minutes walk from the very modestly priced long-stay car park. Watch out for the pedestrians, however, when driving around the one way system to drop stuff off at the house. ... Thanks Mike, had a great stay, perfect location ... June2019 (Mr DD)

Thank you very much for letting us stay in your cottage. It was perfect for us, and thank you for the extra checking out time.

Lovely old house right in the centre of Looe. Pubs and shops only a stones throw away. Not suitable for those with mobility issues as the stairs are steep and have low beams at bedroom entrances. Being in the centre of Looe, it does get a bit noisy in the early hours when the pubs turn out, but that wasn't a problem for me personally as I sleep well. Main bedroom was clean and comfortable, and had a shower with an impressive flow. Lovely bathroom on the second floor with a very large roll top bath. Communication from the owner was excellent, and his information and tips made the stay a most enjoyable one.”

This is a lovely place to stay in the heart of old Looe. Its precipitous stairs and tiny doors are all part of the charm. The beds are comfortable and the big bath a delight. It's not a posh place, but relaxed, basic, and has everything you need. Roses and milk were a nice welcome. Many thanks, Mike. The cottage was a a smashing place to stay. Thank you Mike for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage in the gorgeous village of Looe. We found everyone in Looe just beautiful. We took part in the Christmas celebrations around town on Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. The location of the cottage meant that we could easily walk to everything we wanted to do around Looe. It was also situated so that we could drive to Land's End, Bodmin Moor and several National Trust homes as nice day trips. What drew me to this cottage was the age of it. Coming from Australia we are lucky to find anything built in the 1820's so 1500's is just WOW! Cottage is as described and the flowers and biscuits were such a welcome treat. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children and the cottage suited our needs perfectly. ... Dec2018 (Mrs HW, from Australia, via airbnb)

Apr2018 (Ms SC, via Airbnb)

Fantastic cottage situated right in the centre of Looe. So quirky, with its narrow stairs, stone walls and shower in the hallway!! The low ceilings and beams could be an issue if you forget to duck... The stairs are steep but there are handy rails and handles to hold. We were greeted by fresh daffodils which was a lovely surprise, as well as tea, coffee and milk. Mike was on hand when I had an issue with the shower and he sent someone over on the same day to fix the problem. Fabulous stay and I hope to return! Such a wonderful stay, thank you. Toys games and books ... We had a great holiday in your welcoming cottage. Excellent position for all amenities and the beach. It would be great if you could squeeze a toilet on the first floor as it was quite a trek to the beautiful bathroom. However the beds were comfortable and the cottage had lovely personal touches. Toys games and books plus the beach box which we added to. We would not hesitate to stay again when we visit Looe. Your friendliness and cottage were very much appreciated. I would recommend it others. Thank you again. ... Jul2017 (Mrs SH & family) .. nb different Mrs SH to below!)

Would thoroughly recommend the cottage ... I am originally from Cornwall and my partner is from the States and we spent a week in Looe at Smuggler Cottage. Looe is a perfect spot, not only as a quaint fishing village, but also as a base to see and explore Cornwall. The cottage is situated in the old part of the town with thick walls, tiny windows and a jumble of rooms joined by steep staircases. It oozes character and yet has all the amenities for a comfortable stay. We had a tremendous time and everything met our expectations. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage and the owner Mike was great. ... May2017 (B & K)

Such a great find and highly recommended ... What a fantastic, cosy cottage with an abundance of character features and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a worry free holiday. My partner and I stayed here for a week last December and on arrival found it to be very clean and tidy with beds made up and towels supplied. A lovely added touch of a Welcome Tray consisting of tea, coffee, sugar, milk, cookies and a vase of fresh flowers! As I was born in East Looe, I guess I am slightly biased about this beautiful little fishing town with its quaint shops, fine drinking establishments and eateries, but staying in Smuggler Cottage was just perfect! We booked direct with Mike and found him to be very helpful with great communication from start to finish. Such a great find and highly recommended. We will be returning time and time again.....already booked for this December! ... Feb2017 (Jen & Dave)

Scrap book for school ... Just wanted to say thank you for our fabulous family holiday, the cottage is lovely and the grandchildren loved the tunnels and have done a scrap book for school all about it and to top it off the weather was amazing thanks again. ... Sep2016 (T&DH)

Quirky cottage ... Stayed at this Cottage in September whilst attending the music festival with my Family. Cannot fault the location. Quirky cottage as you'd expect given its age. I know Mike is going to update some things in 2017. Good price and Mike always on hand if you had a questions. Booking was very easy. ... Sep2016 (CB)

Perfect ... It was perfect. What a cottage, so much character and right in the centre of East Looe .. literally a stones throw from the harbour and the beach. The cottage itself was a typical 15th Century building, low head jambs on the internal door frames but plenty of 'Mind Your Head' notices. At just short of six-foot, I didn't bang my head once. It was clean and well presented upon arrival and in a very good state of repair and the customer service received from the owner was more than exceptional, available to contact anytime and I mean anytime about the smallest of issues. I would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to a friend or relative. ... Sep2016 (RonF)

Excellent holiday ... The holiday we had at Looe in your cottage was excellent, we had a good time and would certainly recommend your cottage to others. ... Aug2016 (DC)

Clean and tidy on arrival. Everything in the cottage that you need during your stay. Brilliant location. We had a fantastic holiday. Owner brilliant and always there on the end of the phone if needed. Stones throw away from the beach what more can you ask for. Locals all very friendly and welcoming. Definitely would go and stay again :) would recommend the stay. ... July2016 (Sarah T)

Great location ... A lovely house, surprisingly spacious and well equipped. Great location for beach, shops and restaurants. Would love to come back. Thank you. ... Jun2016 (NR)

Excellent place to stay ... As usual, Mike makes every effort to ensure that his guests walk in to a clean, warm, and extremely well appointed cottage, one of the best places to stay in East Looe and would highly recommend the Smuggler Cottage. ... Dec 2015 (SG)

Does what it says on the tin ... First of all the owner Mike could not have been more accommodating, exceeding helpful and honest with his view of the property. He also went out of his way to find parking at a very good rate on the quay, a very short distance from the property. Six of us stayed in the cottage, 4 adults and two children and we had a great time. The location is very central making it so easy to do things from beach to quay to restaurants all within a short walk, making the car redundant. It was October so we enjoyed walking, crabbing and fishing ( even caught some) and on some days the weather was good enough to enjoy picnics on the beach. In fact apart from not being in swimwear it was just like a summer holiday . The property itself was warm and comfortable and adequately supplied, sufficient so that on one night we were able to cook mussels and fish from the excellent outlet on the quay. The WC was on the top floor so a bit of a journey, but you soon got used to it and it caused no problems. Overall it was great value for money and we would consider it again. ... Oct 2015 (Maurice H)

Fabulous character cottage in Looe ... Great cottage retaining lots of character features in a picturesque area. Ideally located close to shops beach and harbour, couldn't ask for a better location. Many winding stairs with only 1 bathroom/toilet at the very top of the cottage so not really suitable if you have mobility issues. Only other negative is lack of parking close to the cottage remember to make allowances for paying overnight or weekly parking fees. A lovely welcoming cottage with flowers and tea/coffee facilities and cake for when you get there. The owner is extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble in regards to the cottage and your stay. ... Oct 2015 (denise w)

Everything is on the door step ... We have just spent a week in this beautiful cottage and had a fantastic stay. The cottage is well set up, plenty of room, very warm and comfortable. The cottage is in a fantastic location, everything is on the door step. We will return time after time, its one of those cottages that feels home from home! We would recommend this beautiful cottage to our friends and family. Our party was 4 adults and one dog. ... Sep 2015 (Teresa)

Perfect location, really helpful owner ... We have just spent a week here with 2 children and my parents so really put the cottage to the test. From the outset Mike was incredibly helpful with local information and help with parking. There were some very nice welcoming touches too - fresh roses on the table and cookies, milk, tea and coffee. As the cottage is a listed building it has real character, it is quite quirky and very cosy and comfortable. The location could not be better, you are right in the heart of Looe with everything you need on your doorstep. We all had a lovely week and my children already want to know when we will go back! ... May 2015 (Ele H)

Lovely quaint cottage full of character ... We are so pleased we chose Smugglers Cottage. Thanks Mike for letting us stay at short notice. It was really quaint and full of character with oak beams, low ceilings and a quirky staircase. The children had a great time looking for hiding places and loved the cosy fleece blankets to cuddle up with in front of the TV! Everything was really clean and all we needed provided for. The welcome tray and bunch of roses was a lovely touch! The location was absolutely perfect. Just a minute walk to the beach and harbour, and even less to the great selection of shops. Everything you needed. The children had a great time crabbing in the harbour and went on a 2 hour mackerel fishing trip which was well worth it for £12 each. The Thai restaurant through the alley was fantastic! ... Apr 2015 (89happy)

Could not have asked for more. Fantastic stay ... Honestly cannot rate this holiday cottage highly enough, from our first contact with the owner to our departure there was nothing too much to ask. We were looking for a much needed getaway after a busy month and wanted peace, quiet, nice food and wine. Looe was even better than we had hoped for! Have already recommended the area and especially smugglers cottage to loads of our friends. ... Jan 2015 (Dearbhaile)

Superbly located cottage in the middle of Looe ... We have just come back from a week's holiday at this cottage in Looe. The cottage is in a wonderful location, just a minute walk from either the sandy beach or the harbour. The cottage is close to shops and restaurants but is very peaceful. The cottage itself is very comfortable and is set over three floors with a winding staircase. It was very clean and tidy on arrival and the tea, coffee and cake provided for us were very welcome after our journey. We couldn't fault the cottage in any way and would definitely stay there again. Looe is a lovely place and there is plenty to occupy everyone - young or old. ... Nov 2014 (Jenny G)

Lovely character cottage, a great base to explore Cornwall ... This was a lovely cottage, right in the heart of old Looe and minutes from the beach and harbour. All the upstairs rooms were nicely renovated, although the two twin rooms could do with a small wardrobe. Large bathroom, and two separate showers made it easy for a family. Downstairs was smaller, but had everything we needed, including games for wet days, and beach toys. Steep stairs had handrails for safety. Ample towels provided (not beach) - a small point, but makes it so much easier when travelling as family of 5! Only real downside was not being able to park close, but as with most of the old Cornish towns, they were simply not designed for vehicles, and that's why we love them! You can unload close to the property, and the owner recommends a local carpark, only 10/15mins walk, and a weekly ticket can be bought. We really enjoyed our week, and would definitely come back. Jul 2014 (Helen C)

Comfortable, clean cottage full of character ... Our family of five had a fantastic holiday at Smuggler Cottage. The cottage itself was wonderful - comfy beds and sofas. Everything was nice and clean. We also appreciated the smaller details - plenty of towels, a supply of tea and milk. As usual, Looe was fantastic - the weather that week was better than back home in San Francisco. We went on a walk every day, my sons spent hours swimming and playing basketball at the hoop next to the beach, my husband enjoyed his pints of Doombar, and my daughter pretty much ate her way through all the bakeries and ice cream shops in town. We loved Looe when kids were young and we still enjoy our visits now that they are teenagers. Can't wait to return! ... Jul 2014 (Sarah G)

Beautiful cottage, perfect location ... Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, it's a beautiful cottage with so much character and charm it has been decorated thoughtfully. Very well equipped. Could not have asked for more but the pictures really don't do it justice. The owner was brilliant nothing was too much trouble, a totally hassle free booking highly recommended x ... Jun 2014 (lynn p)

Fantastic cottage, will definitely return ... I just wanted to say a huge ' Thank you ' for our stay in smuggler cottage. We had a fantastic time, and were very fortunate to have gorgeous weather. The kids absolutely loved it, they thought it was like a pirate ship, and will have very fond memories of our stay. I have recommended smuggler cottage to friends and family, and told them how much we loved it there. It was spotless when we arrived, and the location was perfect. The kids also enjoyed the cake that was left for us !! Many thanks again ... Jun 2014 (Kelly I)

Great cottage , brill position ... My family and I stayed at smuggler cottage in May 2014 , we had a fab week , cottage is right in the heart of looe , by all shops and restaurants and only minutes from the beach and harbour . The cottage itself is very quaint and warmly , designed over 3 floors with 3 double bedrooms of wich 2 have a shower in them , the toilet is located on the top floor , mike the cottage owner is the most helpful of people you could wish to meet , nothing was a problem and we were allowed to pay in instalments . The cottage was immaculately clean when we arrived , with fresh flowers and a few essentials . We were so impressed with our stay that we are planing to return some time in the not so distant future , if you are planing a trip to looe then you wouldn't go far wrong in staying at smuggler cottage. ... May 2014 (Leamingtonblues)

What a perfect place to stay for our honeymoon ... Stayed at Smugglers cottage in May and found that Mike the property owner extremely helpful from the word go .Nothing was too much trouble . Arrived to a lovely present and a bottle of wine a wedding card and flowers wow that was amazing and very thoughtful . The cottage itself was so lovely and the stairs very quirky (loved them). The lovely bath was awesome ..could stretch right out and relax after a long day .Loved also the fluffy blankets to cosy up with at nighttime while watching tv. The cottage is right within easy reach of plenty of scrumylicious restaurants and plenty of shops .The sea is only minutes away for a quick bit of fishing in the morning. Perfect place to stay and absolutely overwhelming by the quick contact at the beginning during and end of our stay by Mike ...felt very looked after thanks again Mike ...Will definitely be back one day ..such a perfect place to stay. ... May 2014 (Lornsy46)

Excellent stay ... Had a lovely time at the cottage,Mike the owner was brilliant so friendly and helpful.Kids loved the place and had the best time.Right in the center of looe with all the hustle and bustle.Restaurants right on your doorstep as well as the quay.Cosy cottage with everything you need to make it a home from home.Would love to come back. ... Apr 2014 (Mummychanny)

Charming cottage in a perfect location ... Located a few steps from the harbour and the lovely beach, it's a great place to stay. It's a quirky cottage, nicely decorated and has all you will need, including games and a dressing up box of pirate clothes for the kids. Good restaurants just yards away, excellent Italian and a new Thai just opened. It's on three floors up crooked stairs to the top, where the toilet and bath is situated. Fantastic walks in both directions along the coast - head for Hannafore for the best view of Looe Island. Great pint of Doom Bar in the local pub and way cheaper than Sussex. Make sure you take the kids on the ferry across the river too. ... Apr 2014 (Dave U)

What a great place, we will be back! ... We had such a great holiday at the cottage, it has everything you need, it is very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to arrive to clean beds and lovely soft towels, we love going to the cottage because it is so near the beach and harbour, looe is great for a family holiday. ... Feb 2014 (Trisha B)

Quirky and cosy, just like Looe! ... We are a family with two children, aged 8 and 4. We love Looe and the Smugglers Cottage was an excellent base for our holiday. It is a really quirky cottage, with all the individual characteristics that you would expect from a traditional seaside cottage in Looe. That said, it has been very well maintained and is clean, comfortable and well decorated and had a very "home from home" feeling to it. It is right in the heart of Looe and very close to all local amenities and the beach. Whilst it was more than suitable for us, the main staircase is quite steep and narrow with a low ceiling in parts and may not be suitable for anyone who has any mobility issues, however in fairness to the owner, he has put lots of handles and rails on the staircase in useful places to make this as easy as possible, however please don't let this put you off staying there as you will have a great time (just as we did). Definitely a great place to stop if you are looking for a cottage in Looe and would comfortably accommodate a family of six. Thank you to the owner, who made booking very quick and easy and phoned before we arrived to confirm everything, sort directions and check how many beds we needed making up. Please check this cottage out if you like something a little different! We would certainly stay here again. ... Oct 2013 (183Sparkle)

Smuggler Cottage - encapsulates Looe ... What can I say other than WOW! What a cottage, what a location! Smugglers cottage really does sum up Looe and its quirky residents and buildings. Step into Smugglers and you step back in time where fishermen and smugglers frequented the narrow streets of Looe. Our children were fascinated by the blocked up smugglers tunnel in the cottages kitchen. When we arrived the cottage was clean and welcoming and within 5 mins we were on the quayside taking in the view and smells of Looe that we've grown to love over the years. Smugglers cottage is within 30 seconds walking distance of at least 5 restaurants, 2 old fashioned sweet shops, 3 bakerys selling Cornwalls finest pasties, several pubs, the river and quay, the beach and of course prime crabbing ground which the kids loved with a passion I've not seen before. If you want high rise hotels, uber modern designs and loads of chain-shopping designer stores....Then go to London, if however you want quaintness, rustic and relaxing, book smugglers cottage. Happy travelling.
... Aug 2013( Rob L)

lovely cosy cottage ... Lovely old cottage with large bedrooms, excellent bathroom with large bath and two separate showers. Well equipped kitchen with a comfy lounge, where there were games and books for the children also bucket and spades for the beach. Excellent location close to shops, pasties to die for, beach where my son picked his mussels for tea .. ( pubs), etc the ship inn, where the kids would play pool, also the jolly sailor over in west Looe is good too. (restaurants) ,smugglers inn is very nice. also the Chinese and curry house.great all round location.we all had a fantastic time x ... Apr 2013 (bev44)

Perfect family pirate cottage ...We had a brilliant week here - weather dodgy but kids (aged 4, 6 & 8) loved staying in a pirate ship (small and cosy with wooden beams to duck and twisty stairs - you can see their point). Kitchen/lounge has everything you need, including books, games, guidebooks and all the buckets, nets and beach cricket gear you could wish for. For grown-ups, it's a few steps from every type of take-away you need and great pubs as well as a big bath upstairs for relaxing with one of those books. Short stroll to beach and right in middle of town but not too noisy. Excellent local tourist info office up the street and parking over the river no problem.

We had a wonderful time in looe your cottage is beautiful , thanks to yourself and your cleaner for everything.

Your cottage is enchanting. It still has that quintessential air about it as nothing much has been changed. I loved the uneven floors and winding staircase, even if it made everyone dizzy! Beds were very comfortable, everything was lovely and clean thank you.

We had a great time at the cottage what a lovely place you have there.

We had a really lovely week in Smuggler's Cottage thank you, it was lovely and warm, the beds were very comfy and it was ideally situated with everything within walking distance...no grumbles at all, it was just lovely! We will definately be returning to Looe.

We have just spent the most fantastic time at your cottage. We would love to book the cottage for next year. I must thank you for a sublime cottage and also for your fantantic advice on your website and also your communication before and during our visit..thanks again

Thanks a MILLION for the cottage, we had a great time. It was just as described, clean and very comfortable.

Just to let you know we had a great time in Cornwall. Smugglers Cottage is a real winner and you were quite right about the Ship Inn...extremely child friendly and always very good service.

We very much enjoyed our stay - the cottage was ideally placed and the girls loved the beach access. We spent most time on the beach - even in the rain at one point - and the weather was generally very kind to us. Our girls also liked your childrens books. It was great to be able to go to the beach and pop back for things.

Great position and we had a great time. Recommend Dave's Diner for fish & chips! Thank you.

We had a fantastic time last week. The House is great and we met some lovely people, ate some very good food and had really good weather!! It just went too quick!!!

We had a fantastic stay at your cottage in Looe. What a lovely place. We will recommend to friends and family.

Thanks for a great place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed out visit and will no doubt be back.

This is our first holiday in England for 10 years, we have had a lovely time weather has been dry and hot, cottage is first class, recommend Smugglers Cot for their Friday night roast. All the staff at the Ship Inn made us very welcome, food also good there. Thank You

Our 3rd year in Looe ... "Dave's Diner" for excellent fish & chips (and I'm fussy!). Best Chinese in the world next to "Buller's Arms". Our 3rd year in Looe - why go abroad ??

Went great Mike. Can't complain about the weather either, in fact too hot was the cry !
Time goes too fast though.

I would just like to thank you as the cottage was brilliant to stay in. We all had a lovely relaxed holiday. Managed to survive the heatwave. Looe was beautiful as always. The old fashioned stlye of the cottage, with the pirate, smugglers and fishermans feel with the uneven floor and low ceilings. It's a superb experience that fits in with the town to give a real British seaside holiday experience indoors and out, with history, culture and character. Thanks again for the brilliant holiday cottage. It is well looked after.

Your Cottage was lovely, in a very nice place, so near the beach and shops. We looked for Christmas but you are booked up. I will keep your number for next year .

We enjoyed our stay at the Cottage, it is very well sited. If we all get down to Looe again, your's will be the lst place i will try to book.

Just to say that we had a lovely time in Looe (even though the weather could have been better) and the cottage was ideal. I can’t think of anything we found negative about the cottage and the positives are too many to mention.

Just to say we had a fantastic time last week. The House is great and we met some lovely people, ate some very good food and had really good weather!! It just went too quick!!! Now its back to washing, washing and more washing !! Its a good job we took lots of pictures !! Thanks again.

Thanks we had a great time - location was fantastic we didn't have too stagger far to get home after a night out. We had a great meal at Smugglers Cott. We may be back next year as I took lots of great photos which I managed to delete without saving !!

We had a lovely time in Looe. We loved your cottage and would like to go back at some point. What we appreciated about Looe is how unspoilt it it. We didn't go far, just potted around the town and along the beaches.

The cottage was excellent, we were very lucky with the weather. I would certainly recommend to friends, being in the middle of the town and a short walk from the beach was fantastic.

BEST EVER RECOMMENDATION RECEIVED !!! ...... I like to think I've done all the things this lady thanks us for "Just had to write and tell you what a great time we had at the cottage, it was just perfect and we loved all the little extra that you included, never before have we been so well catered for, the books and games came in useful to entertain us in the evening and the local attraction brochures came in useful for during the day although I have to admit we didn't go far because there was so much to see, do and eat on our door step, thanks for the tip about the real ale in the Bullers Arms we managed to work our way through them. We did our best to work are way through the menu at the Smugglers Cott Restaurant just opposite. My thanks also goes to the excellent cleaner, the beds were so comfortable, the bedding was crisp and fresh and the towels white fluffy and exceptionally large. Cleanliness is one of the things we look for when we are away, its such a relief when you arrive if things are as they should be. My disabled mother was impressed that, in the lounge there was plenty of room for her walker and good sturdy handrails up that fantastic stair case that had us all laughing. You really provide everything that you could want, having stayed in many places before we came armed with spare toilet paper and washing up liquid and all those essentials only to find you had provided them. Without a doubt, the five of us have wonderful memories of this holiday which will stay with us for a long time, All being well including my mother we will visit again, there was a couple of books that we only read half of and would like to finish.Your holiday cottage was a joy to us all, please keep it just they way it is so others can experience its charm."
